The 'Partners in Ma'alot' Association (NPO) was established in the year 5780 (2020) to promote and expand initiatives in the field of mental health and disabilities in general, with an emphasis on community integration where a person lives and creating solutions for the observant community and Torah learners.
The association was founded on the basis of many years of activity in the rehabilitative study halls of the 'Ma'alot' network, which provide Torah-based rehabilitation services for mental health challengers, as part of a 'rehabilitation basket' from the Ministry of Health.
The vision of 'Ma'alot' is to realize a person's right to a Torah lifestyle that includes regular study within a Torah framework, as part of the society and community to which they feel they belong.
The establishment of the association aims to amplify the message and expand the activities of 'Ma'alot' into additional avenues.
From the activities of the association
Maalot B'Kodesh - A Torah Program for Women.
'Ma'alot BaKodesh' is a new program designed for women facing mental health challenges who are interested in a framework of spiritual development and community belonging in a religious context.
Mental struggles are sometimes accompanied by a distancing from religious community gathering centers, whether by choice or necessity. The activities within 'Ma'alot BaKodesh' allow women to belong to a unique, accepting, and supportive group. Additionally, many women seek a safe space to receive spiritual guidance in their personal recovery journey, according to their lifestyle and values. Currently, activities are taking place in Jerusalem and Be'er Sheva, and a new group is being established in Kiryat Gat. Restoration of the Soul - Torah Lessons in Psychiatric Hospitals.
Psychiatric hospitalization is one of the most challenging moments in a person's life. The patient is forced to leave their home and family, feeling helpless and hopeful for recovery, and to receive intensive treatment with the aim of returning to a normal life path.
The stay in the ward is accompanied by significant psychological challenges: loneliness, disconnection from familiar surroundings, and difficulty in maintaining a spiritual lifestyle. For religious patients, the disconnection from a Torah environment can intensify their distress.
A special initiative by the organization 'Partners in Elevation' offers a ray of light during this difficult time: bringing rabbis to psychiatric departments to deliver Torah lessons. The goal is to provide spiritual encouragement and support, without the intention of converting anyone or replacing professional treatment.
Currently, lessons are taking place in several hospitals, and we aspire to expand the offering. In coordination with the ward staff, rabbis will come to deliver weekly lessons and assist in meeting the religious needs of the hospitalized individuals.
We would be happy to have your partnership in this important initiative!
